Thursday, June 14, 2012 The Soundtrack of Elementary School {#VlogMom}
**First and foremost, my little guy turns FOUR today! So a big, loud, overly proud HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him! How did he get so big??**
Songs, music can take up places like few other things in life. I love that the first few bars of a tune can transport us back in time or to a specific moment with another person. Music is a big part of our hotyoutuusehold and so this week I asked the #VlogMom community to share with us three songs that take them back to a place, time, event, person, etc. For me, I went back to elementary school in mid-Michigan.
What are the songs of your life?

LOVE G-d Bless the USA. Such a great song.
Wait. Specials were cut back then? That's SO sad. It's starting to happen now around here and it's terrifying me. Would love to hear how your school and families supplemented. How it changed your education?
That makes me especially sad to hear that the fine arts program was cut back then. It saddens me when it happens NOW!! We specifically sought out a school that included an arts program for our kids. Not easy. Wish the tightwads making these cuts would take a second to think about how music enriches our lives: makes connections to math & science... not to mention bridging the gap between cultures -- maybe they would choose differently.
I also remember the days at Metro Skate West. I never found that partner to slow-skate backwards. *sigh*
Great vlog!
Cute haircut!!!
And --- Happy 4th bday, Liam!!!!
Thanks for the prompt!

Oh, how old I feel now that you were in elementary school when Desert Storm started.
Phil Collins! Ha, this brought back a memory about that song "Physical Touch Yeah!" I so thought he was singing a cuss word.
Oh my goodness, this sounds awesome. Rollerskating dancing - this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen in my life, but it sounds SO CUTE, and so nerveracking waiting for somebody to ask you to dance. I never would have that somebody could skate backwards for this. So awesome. Adding this to my new life goals sheet. Must find a boy who can skate backwards.
Had to chuckle at "the bee's knees."
I remember when Lee Greenwood's God bless the USA was playing everywhere!I used to pound it out on the piano and sing along loudly. God bless my parents for putting up with me.
